1. Water Mixed With Vinegar

A mix of warm water and vinegar is fantastic for cleaning bathrooms and kitchens. It also works wonders for wood, including wood floors. Water loosens dirt and grime, while vinegar can kill germs.

Combine:

  • 1/2 cup of vinegar
  • 1 cup of water

Use white vinegar or apple cider vinegar. Saturate a cloth with this mixture for stubborn stickiness.

2. Water With Clear Dish Soap and Essential Oil

By mixing water with clear dish soap and your favorite essential oil, you can create a natural, homemade cleaning solution with a scent you’ll love!

Combine:

  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of a clear, natural dish soap
  • A few drops of citrus essential oil, such as lemon or orange

Use this fresh-scent mixture with a microfiber cloth or put it into a spray bottle for cleaning wood with a large surface area.

3. Mineral Oil With Vinegar & Lemon Juice

For general polishing, mineral oil works wonders.

Mix:

  • ¼ cup mineral oil
  • ¼ cup vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons of lemon juice

Directly spray this onto wood, whether it’s a dining room table, wooden rocking chair, or a floor for regular polishing that keeps the shine at its best.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar, Olive Oil, and Essential Oils

For dark-colored wood, go with a mixture of apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and essential oils for a fresh fragrance.

Combine:

  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable glycerin
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 20 drops of lavender essential oil

The vinegar removes grime and grease, while the lemon juice acts as a disinfectant. Olive oil moisturizes the wood and protects it over time.

Timing

When you polish and clean your wood furniture or floors is up to you. Weekly is best when you see regular dust and dirt build-up. Perhaps regular cleaning with water and vinegar weekly works better, while monthly polishing with natural oils does the trick to keep your wood looking shiny for a lifetime.
