Windows get warm very quickly due to sunlight. Clean your windows on cloudy days. This is because direct sunlight can prematurely dry your chosen cleaning fluid. Clouds also help you see the window better because you’re not squinting due to the bright light.
Top to Bottom
Use gravity to your advantage and clean from top to bottom for a streak-free shine. You also save on cleaning fluid because some of the liquid drips slowly down the window or mirror.
A microfiber cloth is the best type of cloth for a streak-free shine. Microfiber leaves behind less lint compared to paper towels and 100% cotton. If you don’t have a dedicated microfiber cloth, a cotton T-shirt or old towel can be used instead.
There are plenty of glass cleaners on the market. You can choose a trusted brand at the store, or you can make your own at home by mixing one cup of water, one cup of rubbing alcohol, and one tablespoon of vinegar. This mixture evaporates quickly, and it’s much cheaper compared to the manufactured brands you purchase at the store.
A handheld squeegee makes all of the difference to a streak-free shine. After you wipe the window with your cloth, there is still some glass cleaner remaining on the surface. Use a squeegee to remove the rest. If you use the cloth for a second time, it leaves behind streaks because it’s wet.
Cotton swabs are fantastic for corners where residue, dirt, and gunk accumulate. These cosmetic tools are perfect for hard-to-reach parts of windows. Use cotton swabs to get in between the window and the screen, as well as all nooks and crannies.
